TORNADO SURVIVOR'S GUILT HAUNTS MANY PEOPLE

Yes, TORNADO SURVIVOR'S GUILT HAUNTS MANY PEOPLE! Just as it does
.for those in the military, who survived being killed, alongside of their fellow friends in war, they feel a sense of guilt.  Because they survived, when their comrades in arms perished.  So, they are left to wonder "why them & not me?"
IT IS THE SAME....for some of us, who endured that terrible tornado outbreak that just passed on April 27 & 28 of 2011.  It ravished so many of the southern states and killed close to 400 people (and counting), and left thousands injured.  Yet, for those of us, who cowered in our basements (as I did), listening to county tornado sirens for hours, some of us are left with a feeling of "survivor's guilt", when death came so close to us.  Yet, there but for the grace of God went I, who was spared.
PERHAPS it is because I am so sensitive to the suffering of my fellow human beings, that I feel this profound sense of loss--even days later.  It is as if I cannot shake this sadness off, as I go along with my everyday life.  I can't get the sight of such tragedy out of my mind, especially when I see on TV the scenes of people walking around in a shocked state, as they try to find their houses, which are no longer standing, or those who are seeking family members & friends who seemed to have vanished-- literally "gone with the wind".
BECAUSE I HAVE...a profound sense of deep spirituality, and realize that this lifetime is but an infinitesimal  speck in universal time, I should be better equipped emotionally to shake this sad feeling off, to go on from here. But here it is 3 days later and I have yet to come to grips with this horror.  But with time,  I will overcome, as I hope that others like me will, because it is in human nature to rebound from tragedy.  But I want those others, who survived, to know that you are not alone in your feelings, as many of us feel this oppressive, distraught condition, that we are having trouble shaking.
BUT WE MUST CHALK IT UP TO.....the fact that it was the "exit point" of the souls that perished.  And our "exit point" has not yet come.  Til then, we must go on..
MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED in this journey.
