This novel is about an Acadian Landry family, who traveled an extensive journey, after being expelled from Acadia (Nova Scotia) in 1755.  And then finally arrived in St. Martinville, Louisiana.  It takes place at the run up to the French Revolution in France, where these displaced Acadians had been transported.  And reveals how many of them escaped from those turmultuous times, to find sanctuary in south Louisiana.
